When you first have your eyebrows microbladed the results will be fantastic, the new shape and colour will be beautifully vivid. You may not imagine needing a top up. However everyone's skin heals differently, and in the 6 weeks after your treatment your colour will fade as new skin develops over the top of treatment area.

The depth of colour that you retain will depend on a few factors. Your health, healing process and skin.

Health

If you suffer from illnesses such as high blood pressure, an over active thyroid or alcoholism you may also experience excessive loss of colour. This is because your body will process and breakdown the colour faster than an average person. This type of complaint is outside of your control, but that is why top ups exist in order for you to achieve the density of colour you desire.

Healing

The one area you can control and by following the aftercare advice you can ensure that the strokes remain as vivid as possible so that you retain the best colour possible for as long as possible. This means keeping your eyebrows protected from excessive sunlight, water, make up, creams and exfoliates. Once your scabs are ready to come off, start applying the balm provided at the treatment to ensure they come off as smoothly as possible without scarring or pulling off other scabs that are not yet ready.

Skin

Unfortunately another area you cannot control, but its useful to be aware that if you have older or oily skin your colour retention may be less. Oily skin can create a barrier of oil under the pigment preventing it from effectively bonding with the skin which reduces colour density. Elderly skin like wise may be more fragile and bleeding can also cause a barrier to colour bonding. There is nothing you can do about either of these issues, but the top ups are in place so that you can have your dream eyebrows.
