First, it is essential to know that microblading and machine brows are both an art form of creating perfectly designed and natural-looking eyebrows using the implantation of pigmentation into the skin. With that, however, the processes are different. Today, we'll share the unique properties between the two options.

THЕ SІMІLАRІTІЕЅ

Thеу аrе bоth tattooing рrосеѕѕеѕ. By dеfіnіtіоn, tattooing іѕ thе іntrоduсtіоn of ріgmеntѕ іntо the inner dermal lауеr of thе ѕkіn, and соntrаrу to рорulаr сlаіmѕ that mісrоblаdіng іѕ nоt a tattooing process, studіеѕ have ѕhоwn thаt it іn fасt іѕ. Once the pigment is placed Into the dermal layer it would be considered a permanent procedure. Although, these procedures will fade over time.

Both procedures are carried out by highly trained and skilled permanent make-up professionals. Both methods require a huge amount of skill to produce great results and it’s always more about the skill of the artist rather than the method of implantation.

Thеу bоth require aftercare. Both machine tаttооіng аnd mісrоblаdіng require a реrіоd оf аftеrсаrе рrоvіdеd bу your technician. This process is noninvasive and usually takes about 4 weeks to fully heal.

THE PROS AND CONS OF MACHINE VS MICROBLADING

PROS OF MACHINE

Using a machine that has one tiny needle that inserts small dots of ink inside the skin. This procedure is almost painless and you can perform machine hair-strokes without any numbing cream. This method tightly locks the ink within as the dots increase and align together to create a stroke.

Machine works not only suitable for creating a range of styles, but it can also be used for a range of PMU treatments - not just brows.

Suitable for all skin types. The healed results are thought to be longer-lasting than microblading, especially on clients with oily skin types.

Another major benefit of machine hair-strokes is that the skin rarely will bleed which assists with keeping the results of the ink.

CONS OF MACHINE

If you operate with the needle too deeply into the skin you’re at risk of overusing the machine. Ideally, your hand movement should be light and the needle should delicately touch the surface of the skin.

It is also important to keep in mind that it is hard to control the machine because of the vibration so you’ll need to confidently keep your hands stable with practice and overall I would suggest moving on to learning hair-strokes after mastering microblading.

PROS OF MICROBLADING

The microblading process uses a manual tool with a blade which makes it very easy to operate and draw strokes.

Results are very soft and natural. Microblading is perfect for clients who want a subtle transformation and favour a fluffy brow look.

Unlike with the machine, micoblading doesn’t have an intimidating sound for the client to have to overcome. This also means that there are no vibrational distractions either so you can better control a manual tool while placing strokes more easily than you could with a machine.

CONS OF MICROBLADING

Not suitable for everyone: microblading would not be the best option for clients with oily skin type as pigment may fade a lot quicker and more regular touch-ups could be required to maintain the results.

Can be more traumatic for the skin: especially if clients have regular touch ups over a long period of time, the cutting of the skin could lead to a higher risk of scar tissue developing. The procedure can be more painful or uncomfortable for the clients than a digital machine, but that does depend on the individual's pain threshold.

WHICH METHOD IS THE BEST OPTION FOR A BEGINNER?

There are pros and cons to both microblading and machine. You can create a successful permanent makeup business trained in either method, so the technique you opt for usually comes down to personal preference.
