What is Brow Microblading?

Eyebrow microblading is a cosmetic tattoo procedure, resulting in a semi-permanent makeup treatment that places special pigments under the top layer of your skin. The result is tiny hair-like strokes, using a pen that contains needles (around 12-15), that make your natural eyebrows look more natural and fuller. The pigment is placed in the dermal-epidermal junction which means that your body will naturally push out the pigment over time.

As this procedure involves semi-permanent ink, the coloring from microblading can last 12-18 months.

Why would I want Brow Microblading?

If you are done using eyebrow pencils and gels, this application may be what you are looking for. Anyone with thin or sparse eyebrows would be a good candidate for brow microblading. Eyebrows are an important and sometimes overlooked feature. When you have brow microblading done, you may save yourself time and effort getting ready.

If you have been diagnosed with Alopecia or Cancer, Brow Microblading could be an option for you. Microblading can be used to create shape and dimension where there is none after hair has fallen out. There are also different microblading techniques a practitioner can use to achieve the desired look for the client, such as ombre brows and fine hair brows. A thorough consultation with the client before treatment will let them know what techniques they should use to create the most realistic and perfect eyebrows for the client.

How is Brow Microblading done?

When you have made the decision to have brow microblading done, make sure you understand the procedure. Your initial appointment will take at least 2 hours. Make sure that you have allotted enough time as you do not want to be rushed.

You may have a consultation before the procedure. But once you are into your appointment, things should run smoothly as your PMU/Microblading Artist begins.

Your artist will draw on the shape desired/discussed. You will have an idea of the arch and style. Having the shape drawn on will help create a true natural-looking brow, following the direction of the natural brow hairs. Your face symmetry and age will be taken into consideration. We want you to look and feel your best. The ink used for the brow microblading procedure is chosen based on the natural color of the brow hairs and the skin’s undertone.

The eyebrow will be sanitized and numbed. A topical numbing cream or an anesthetic will be used for your procedure. Patients will feel the pressure of the tools and possibly some discomfort. You should not feel the full effects of the tools.

Then, your artist will move onto drawing the strokes using the microblading pen, which can take anywhere from 30-40 minutes, depending on the eyebrow area.

After your first treatment, your eyebrows will have a darker color for about a week and then gradually lighten over the next month. This process is completely normal. It is important to follow the aftercare directions provided. If you do not, the microblading strokes could scab off.

After the eyebrows are finished, an aftercare ointment to help healing and a follow-up appointment is scheduled for four to six weeks later.

Follow-Up Care

Now that your initial appointment is done, you will have some time to heal and adjust to your new eyebrows. But in 4-6 weeks, you will be scheduled for a touch-up appointment. Here are some reasons why you need to keep it.

Your touch-up appointment will help you achieve the longest-lasting results. Your artist will be able to smooth out any imperfections that occurred during the healing process. It is not uncommon for there to be some hair strokes that did not heal with full color. This appointment will take care of that.

If you are afraid to go a little darker with the color at your initial appointment, you may be able to do so at your follow-up appointment.

This appointment is also the best time to adjust the shape. You may have chosen something too thin, or a “safe” option due to nerves, you will be able to make those adjustments.
